What’s best than spending our last days in the Canadian Rockies in the famous and magnificent Jasper National Park? After 3 weeks discovering stunning landscapes and beautiful wildlife in all Rockies National Parks, it’s time for us to enjoy one last time the mountains before heading towards new adventures in the North.

Today is our first day in Jasper National Park. While not as famous as Banff National Park, Jasper is clearly on top of the to-do list of all nature lovers in Canada. When we wake up in the campsite, the sun is out and warms our tent. It feels so good to get out of the bed and not being instantly frozen! I guess we could get used to it pretty fast! 😀
We leave the campground around 9am after showering and having a haircut (yes, Rémi did it! 😉). One of the hot spot in Jasper is Maligne Lake, and it's where we go first. The road to the lake is long and beautiful and we encounter some animals: elks across the road and one bald eagle watching her two big babies!
🥾 Bald Hills Trail - 7.8km, 350m D+
This trail is supposed to bring us to the top of the hill above the lake. However, too much snow and mud turns our motivation down and we decide to turn back after the first point of view. Sometimes, we just don’t want to fight. We have rather picnic near the lake.
We then go to Maligne Canyon and the view is super nice! It’s 58m deep and the view from the bridges is quite impressive.
On the road back to the town, we are lucky enough to see a huge elk with stunning woods. We briefly stop in order to take some pictures and admire it. A great encounter!
We stop to Jasper to buy some groceries and then go back to the campsite to book a new spot for the night. Is it possible to have the same spot as yesterday? :D We spend a very nice evening: working, cooking, dishwashing, showering, drinking tea and coffee and eating chocolates! We are surrounded by elks that come directly in the campsite to eat grass.

Three sunny days: it seems that’s the most we can get in the Rockies! Today, it’s supposed to rain again. We wake up early in order to enjoy the park before the rain starts.
Very slowly to try and see some animals, we drive to Pyramid Lake. The scenery is splendid (as always), with the reflection of the mountains on the calm lake. We take breakfast on the beach, surrounded by signs warning about grizzlies. We are on the lookout while we cook our very odorous sausages and the bear spray is at the ready. However, we have to admit: we would love to see a bear! 😁
After a quick stop at the campground, we go to Edith Cavell. The zigzag road to the summit is beautiful and quite steep. It gets hot under the hood! When we finally arrive on the parking lot, it starts to rain! It’s not that bad, as we can only go to the first point of view: the trail is still closed due to the snow...
After which, we decide to leave Jasper and take the road. Unfortunately, we don’t want to stay longer in Jasper and spend lot of money on campgrounds. It gets expensive real quick! Anyway, it’s raining so we better have to move on. Next stop? It's time for us to leave the Rockies and head to the North! 😎
